A beautiful abrash light blue color field sets the stage for this wonderful Persian Malayer gallery rug from the 1800s. The Malayer carpet from the 4th Quarter of the 19th century is around 150 years old and in beautiful design and colors. The field is in Herati "allover" design in abrash light blue color. The abrash blue color (different shades of blue) in the field is the result of using vegetable dyes and the very desirable abrash (variation or patina) comes with the age produces a wonderful effect. The light green or lime color border with various colors including yellow, pink, red, green, and blue is unbelievably beautiful. The design of animal and human forms throughout adds to the whimsical beauty of this village masterpiece.
